Food Myths Finally Revealed by William Hogarty
First of all I want to acknowledge all the lives lost and families effected by 9/11
On a lighter note, I have been fascinated by Nutrition since I was 18 and entered my first bodybuilding contest. I was amazed at how the human body could be altered with diet and exercise. I did my first contest at 18 and won Mr. Teenage San Jose then I was hooked. I got a degree in Nutrition in college yet the studies were primarily around food production and storage. For the sake of this blog, I will establish as base line of health as weight/body fat at 18% to 25% for men and 25% to 30% for women and no medications what so ever (people associate health with no disease, yet if they are medicating for blood pressure ect would consider not healthy), high level of energy, feeling good.
So how many people are healthy? On weight alone, only 25% are in the mark and of this 25%, I would imagine that 50% are medicating, so now we are at 12%, and if we take out energy and feeling good, I bet we are less than 5%. Staggering, isn’t it? I am 52, my body fat is at 13% now (as low as 6% in summer), I don’t take any medications, and I have a high level of energy and feel great. I am VERY lucky as I went through massive personal/professional stress in last three years and I believe I managed it as I was in good shape.

Lets talk Organic, and by definition, Organic agriculture produces products using methods that preserve the environment and avoid most synthetic materials, such as pesticides and antibiotics. USDA organic standards describe how farmers grow crops and raise livestock and which materials they may use.
I don’t know of anyone who dying from the lack of organic foods, yet amazing how many people focus on this as the bench mark of health. I am not saying that organic is not better, yet I bet is drastically lowering sugar then that’s perfect! It amazed me how the Kardashian’s have a cult following (Kim has 50 million followers on Twitter, Bill Gates 30 million). I wonder how many people eat organic because of them yet they don’t even come close to definition of healthy.
Non GMO: also genetically engineered foods, are foods produced from organisms that have had changes introduced into their DNA using the methods of genetic engineering. This can include animals and other organisms that are fed GMO feed
Again don’t know of anyone dying from GMO foods.
Gluten Free: A gluten-free diet (GFD) is a diet that excludes gluten, a protein composite found in wheat, barley, rye, and all their species and hybrids (such as spelt, kamut, and triticale). The inclusion of oats in gluten-free diet remains controversial. Avenin present in oats may be also toxic for coeliac people. Its toxicity depends on the cultivar consumed. Furthermore, oats are frequently cross contaminated with gluten-containing cereals
Lastly I don’t know of anyone dying from Gluten, yet if someone has an allergy with gluten then surely avoid it.
I want to be clear, I am not making claims or guarantees, I am sharing what works for me and my family (my father is 84 and has high energy and low body fat and disease free) I am not saying sugar is bad, studies are saying too much sugar can be harmful to your health.
I am passionate about introducing high protein, low sugar foods to market that taste normal without sacrifice that give consumers choices when eating. There is SO MUCH mis information, BS, (my BS blog last week had a 400% increase in views with over 3,000 views from previous blog) and media, that all this is confusing at best. I want to appeal to everyone not just the fitness crowd.
